Archiving Policy

AfAc Publisher is committed to ensuring the long-term digital preservation and accessibility of the scholarly content it publishes. To achieve this, AfAc Publisher implements a robust archiving strategy for all its journals, including The North African Journal of Food and Nutrition Research (NAJFNR).

Content published by AfAc Publisher is permanently safeguarded through the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), the dedicated archiving service of the Public Knowledge Project. This network ensures the integrity and continuous availability of articles published via Open Journal Systems (OJS), which is utilized by AfAc Publisher.

To further maximize accessibility and discoverability, articles published by AfAc Publisher's journals are actively indexed in reputable databases such as:

  • Google Scholar (for broad academic discoverability)
  • African Journals Online (AJOL) (for enhanced regional visibility within Africa)

Furthermore, all published articles are assigned a persistent DOI (Digital Object Identifier) through CrossRef, ensuring their permanent citability and discoverability, regardless of any changes to original web addresses.

Repository Policy

AfAc Publisher maintains a comprehensive repository policy that actively permits and encourages the self-archiving and institutional repository deposit of accepted and published papers from its journals, aligning with its commitment to open access principles, both prior to and following formal publication.

Authors publishing with AfAc Publisher retain copyright to their scholarly work. They are explicitly permitted to deposit the publisher’s final version (Version of Record) or its PDF equivalent in personal or institutional repositories or libraries at any time, without requiring specific permission from AfAc Publisher.

Authors are also encouraged to make their published articles publicly available immediately upon publication. This can be achieved by depositing the URL of their published article in various repositories, academic libraries, or on personal websites, in addition to depositing the PDF version. In all instances of self-archiving, proper citation of the journal name and AfAc Publisher, along with other pertinent citation details, is required to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.

AfAc Publisher's policy allows authors to deposit the Published Version (Version of Record) of their paper in an institutional or other repository of their choice (e.g., Google Scholar, Academia.edu, ResearchGate, etc.). Authors are granted permission to use and deposit their own published work by downloading it directly from the journal website; however, any modifications to the article's formatting or repagination are not permitted.

Through its Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, AfAc Publisher also provides internal repository capabilities for different versions of the manuscripts:

  • Submitted version: This version is retained within OJS but is not publicly available.
  • Accepted version (Author Accepted Manuscript): This version is also reposited within OJS but is not publicly available.
  • Published version (Version of Record): This is the final, copy-edited, and formatted version, which is reposited in OJS and made publicly available as open access content.
